Becontree Brass Band took part in the National Mineworkers Open Brassband Contest in Butlins this weekend, and were placed 11th out of 24 bands. The band scored 181 points, and are delighted with this achievement. The test piece - "The Plantagenets" by Edward Gregson - was not technically challenging, but rewarded musicality and ensemble playing, and the band's performance emphasized those areas.
