Becontree Brass Band took part in the London and Southern Counties regional contest on Saturday 15th of March, and came a disappointing 10th.
During the run-up to the contest, the band felt confident in its rehearsals, and it was gratifying to have the adjudicator's remarks pick up on many of the details Graham Chambers had emphasized in rehearsal. However, the performance on the day was a little below our best, and the overall result was not unexpected.
Nevertheless, the band recognizes the improvements in musicality and sound that working on "James Cook, Circumnavigator" brought with it. Rehearsing a test piece is always a challenge, and the band enjoyed the preparation process.
Congratulations to the winners, Jersey Premier Brass.
