On Sunday 16th November at the Barnardo’s Church in Barkingside, two of the country’s top soloists will appear with Becontree Brass Band and the Abbs Cross Wind-band in what is expected to be the most fantastic fundraising concert in the borough this year.
Richard Marshall (principal cornet) and David Thornton (principal euphonium) of the legendary Black Dyke Band are known as the new generation of extraordinary talented musicians. They will be performing a selection of solos that will highlight their wonderful sound and technical ability; we are confident that each soloist will be well received by the audience assembled for what we expect will be a memorable ‘afternoon concert’.
Becontree Brass Band have an established reputation in fund-raising for various local and national charities and the opportunity to support the
Barnardo’s Brass Appeal again has generated much interest. The unique opportunity of working with Richard and David has certainly enthused the band to make this concert a memorable one. So whether you are an existing brass band, a Barnardo's supporter or just a lover of live music, by working together we can sell-out this historic venue at the cultural heart of the community.
Barnardo’s Brass Appeal aims to create new opportunities for young instrumentalists to attend or play an important part in concerts that have featured some of the finest soloists and established adult bands. We hope these opportunities will enable each child or young adult to reach their own potential, thus providing the banding community with new players for the future. The growing interest by a range of organizations, individuals and bands clearly displays the commitment of the wider banding community to help others.
So come along to the Barnardo’s Church in Barkingside for a 2.00pm start and experience the wonderful music making of Richard Marshall and David Thornton supported by the excellent Becontree Brass Band and Abbs Cross Wind-band.
