The Becontree Brass Band has announced that it will engage young conductor and trombonist, Adam Cooke, to lead their challenge on the London and Southern Counties 2nd Section Regional contest in March.
Following a string of promising performances from the band on the contest stage, most recently gaining 4th place at Butlins in January, Becontree are hoping to improve on recent form with Cooke at the helm.
Adam commented: “It’s a very exciting time for the Becontree Band. They have a full compliment of dedicated players as well as some very talented soloists around the stand. Mixed with the ambition of the band, and an eagerness to step things up a gear on the contest stage, they’re in good shape, and I’m very much looking forward to taking them to Stevenage in March.”
Band Chairman Alan Flower also said; “We are delighted to be working with Adam. His energy, meticulous attention to detail and very high expectations are making a real difference to the band and we are looking forward to delivering a first class performance at Stevenage”
Preparations for the contest are underway at the band’s rehearsal venue at Dr. Barnardo’s Village in Barkingside, East London. The details of an open rehearsal on the 2nd section set work on Monday 15th March will be confirmed in the coming days.
