Christmas concert review

Becontree Brass Band, together with the Ripple School Choir, performed at the Barking Salvation Army Hall on Saturday night to a packed house.

The band enjoyed playing the Christmas repertoire - despite the principal cornet player, Kathryn, being taken ill before the concert. Ewan Parker filled in admirably, and the front row acquited themselves with aplomb.

It was great hearing the children from the Ripple School Choir singing, and the communal carols were great fun! David Murray's solo on "Silent Night" was fantastic, and Ewan Parker's rendition of "Over the Rainbow" was masterful.
